A problem to make me feel really stupid
Just the kind of troubleshooting issue to make me feel like an idiot: I can't seem to get sound out to my speakers. Yes, it's dumb, so I'll tell you what's happening as if I'm 8 years old:
Just installed 5.1.1, so I'm not sure if that's the problem. I have the 888/24 as my main interface and the 1622 as the secondary. I'm monitoring out the 1622 directly to my monitor amp. All cables (computer, Pro Tools, interfaces, amp) check out okay. I launch Pro Tools and everything's fine in software (meters), but none of the interface meters are showing level activity (although they're on and look fine otherwise). Tried opening Extensions Manager which said "Digidesign Output Drivers -- INIT DGou" is missing. Strange since I just installed 5.1.1 yesterday. In "Sound" control pannel I only see "Built In" for Sound In and Sound Out. Obviously something's missing. Thanks. |

Re: A problem to make me feel really stupid
OK, I changed the Playback Engine to the 1622. Also, the reason for the no sound was this was a colleague's session, outputted to his 882. So I reconfigured the outputs on the software mixer. Now I have a new problem: Nasty feedback. Pulling up the Master Fader even slightly brings extremely loud digital noise through the monitors. Doesn't matter what I have the 1622 outputs set to.

Re: A problem to make me feel really stupid
Just a guess, did your associate have a clock source set up other than your usual? I recal hearing just such a digital noise when my cheesy adat optical was set to the wrong sample frequency.

Re: A problem to make me feel really stupid
That could be it. Actually, in that session I was referring to, I used his 882 as the main interface with my 888 slaved to it (if I remember correctly).
So then, what's the solution? Thanks. |

Um.. I dunno LOl I only have a digi 001 LOL, I figured with a hint you could take it from there... I would guess reconfiguring the clock source to whatever the session is supposed to be.

Re: A problem to make me feel really stupid
Hmm...you don't have 44.1k or 48k word clock feeding into the Superclock input on your interfaces? I've done this once or twice (heck, probably more cuz I can't learn), and I get that weird digital noise.
