Question Yet another PC build thread... Sorry.

So my current computer has a lot of compatibility issues with PTLE and I've decided to upgrade everything that won't work properly.

My current computer:
HP Pavilion a1730n
Vista Ultimate 32
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 2.4GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE/nForce 430 Chipset
4GB RAM
320GB 7200RPM SATA stock system drive
500GB SATA WD drive (5400RPM - soon to be a back up drive)
mBox 1 w/ PTLE 7.4cs8
UAD-1 PCI Flexi pak

I plan on switching to this setup:

ASUS P5K Pro - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131275

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...IN#detailspecs

ASUS EAH3450 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121230

Athena 4U Rackmount case with 480W PSU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811192043

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 32mb Cache (New Audio Drive) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148288

I plan on transferring my RAM, CD/DVD drive, system drive and the slow WD drive will become a backup drive, as well as the UAD-1 card. I know I will probably encounter some minor issues with switching out the mobo under Vista but I've been researching ways around that on the internet.

I'm also planning on upgrading to a ProFire 2626 and M-Powered 8.

This is my first PC build. Does anyone see any issues with what I am planning on buying regarding PT compability?

I've searched through the Core 2 sticky a lot and this seems to be a pretty good (yet affordable) solution. I am just unsure of the video card and whether or not the included fan will suffice for the processor (the case has 3 fans).

Thanks!

I think you should put this on the Core 2 thread.

I got a Antec 1200 case with 5 120mm fans and 1 200mm and I still bought an Asus cpu cooler for my e8400. lol

As soon as you switch motherboards, you'll have to re-install Windows, unless your new mobo has the same chipset as your old one. Ask me how I found this out.....
