Default Distortion and Pops with New Motherboard

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'm getting Distortion and Pops when playing old PT files on recently upgraded desktop hardware. Previous setup was MBox 2=>LE7.4=>XP Pro=>AMD Athelon MB. Have swapped out the motherboard and processor on the PC with an ASUS P7P55D Pro with Core i7 860 (socket 1156) at 2.8ghz. The Chipset is an Intel P55 Express. Since the swap, all PT Sound Files have played back with distortion and popping. Have also been receiving DAE Error -1115 intermittently.

Have tried the Windows XP optimization and Troubleshooting guide as well as the Pops, Clicks, Crackles... Guide from Avid with no luck. Have also tried to dig around this site for other ideas. I haven't even been able to verify that this processor/chipset is compatible with PT. PT7 seems to be too out of date. However, I would love to get this system up and running again for my daughter to use. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Let me know if I've left out any information that would be useful. Thx.

Hi, did you reinstall the O/S after the motherboard/processor replacement?

I remember the X58 chipset being a strong performer with Pro Tools. I'm not sure I remember the x55.

Is anyone using this one?

You might try disabling hyper threading. Some times it helps. Same with disabling speedstep. Upgrading to a newer version of Pro Tools might help.
