HD Driver 2023.9 STILL Broken.

I read that HD Driver associated with 2023.12 isn't working for old Mac Pro 5.1 so I switched to 2023.3 HD Driver but the issue remained.
I see you're still running 2022.12 with Ventura, are you still using perfectly the Lynx too?

before installing HD Diver 2023.3 did you de-install the 2023.12 driver ?
that´s important to get the 2023.3 driver working again

I am running PT 2023.12 with HD Driver 2023.3 on the latest version of Ventura. It seems to be working fine here.

Within the HD Driver DMG there is a HD Driver uninstaller that will remove the currently installed HD driver from your system. Try running it, followed by restarting your system, before installing 2023.3 again. A PRAM reset and a trashing of Pro Tools preferences can also iron things out if you are still having issues.

Thanks man, appreciate your help. I was able to switch back to PT 2022.12 with 22.12 HD Driver and now it works perfectly. Will try the combination of 2023.12 with 23.03 HD Driver and see what happens!

Yes, it's a shame, it might not be a big effort for Avid to make the HD driver compatible with 5.1... my subscription plan expired in December and I have suspended the update for now. I suspect that a lot of HDX / 5.1 users will do the same.

It's been mentioned in this thread and others. Starting with HD Driver 2023.6 and above, an AAE Error -6001 is displayed as PT tries to Initialize the Audio Engine on startup. PT then just quits.

I initially contacted Avid support back in June when this first occurred. They were unable to solve it so I started experimenting.

Reverting to HD Driver 2023.3 restores normal operation with PT 2023.6/9/12/12.1. It has been mentioned by Avid reps that this is a Mojave issue but I believe that they only tested it on a Mac Pro 5,1 running the last official macOS.

It seems to be some change Avid made to the HD driver for Mx processors that causes this to happen on Intel MacPro 5,1's regardless of the OS they are running. Many of us are running macOS Monterey with OpenCore on macPro 5,1's with zero issues other than this HD Driver 2023.6/9/12/12.1 error.
