C24 lit up like christmas tree
Hi,
I had just introduced a Digital Timepiece that's connected through a Griffin G4port and I set up FreeMidi to use OMS. ProTools is talking to DTP via OMS. Yesterday. Ever since that, I get frequent cases of my Control 24's lights all lit up and lost connection. This seems to happen only during either idle times or Bounce To Disk. I was mixing a long session yesterday and it is fine. It happened once during an idle time and once during BTD. I have since BTD again and no problem. I set OMS to warn to turn off appletalk, and restart appletalk when finished. Can any of these new devices cause my problem ? The only remedy I can do is to restart the Computer since rescanning for C24 won't work when that happens, G4 733 Quicksilver, PT HD3 2-192 IOS, Control24, USB hub, Ethernet 10/100 switch (never a problem). Thanks, |

Re: C24 lit up like christmas tree
I don't have an answer, but mine does the same thing. I am on my 8th replacement unit and I would rather live with this problem than get another one.
I would love to see if there is an easy solution. Thanks! Paul

Re: C24 lit up like christmas tree
Update:
David at Digi Customer service has been superb. I would like to extend some kudos to you guys who handles this problem. David detected that the problem is most likely due to a power supply going bad. So they fedexed me one that arrived by 10:00 am the next day !! I installed it, and it sure fixed that problem so far. No christmas tree, and it even boots faster. When I turn on the unit, it will light up for 2 seconds and done. The power supply before was lightin up for a good 10 seconds before its done. Another problem introduced though: with the new PS, my C24 no longer sends Phantom Power even though the Phantom buttons are turned on. I double checked the connections and all power connections are one to one matched with the old one and all are connected. I verified with Tech Support that Out of the Power supply J13 pins needs to come out 46-48v phantom power. I only get 1.5v DC out of that. Roberto, if this is correct then the second PS is bad. They went ahead and forwarded me another power supply which arrived this morning. I'll test and update soon. |

Re: C24 lit up like christmas tree
Another update:
a second replacement power supply arrived, and immediately installed while checking for phantom power. Voila !! everything seems to work now, even though I have not done a long session to test the christmas tree problem. Kudos to the tech support team !! |
