Default Ozone 8

So it's not on the supported list for M1 Silicon Macs. But sometimes unsupported doesn't mean not working. However it appears Izotope Ozone 8 does no longer work on Mac OS 12.6 Monterey. Which brings me to a problem I've had in the past. Unless I'm somehow mistaken, Ozone isn't backward compatible. If I load a project out of archive and it has an older version than current, a newer version won't open it. It requires that specific version. So previously I had to keep something like Ozone 5-9 installed just in case. But with only O9 or 10 being supported on an M1, this just adds to the trouble.

If someone has any work around, I'll listen. But really I'm just venting.

That's a big issue with all izotope plugins. They've had complaints about it but their reasoning is the processes change so much that each version is incompatible.

I agree that it is a big problem. The workaround/solution is to save the settings in v8 inside Ozone and then manually move that preset into the Ozone 9/10 presets folder. You can then open it. I guess it would not sound 100% exactly the same since the modules keep being updated, but when I have tried, from 8 to 9, it worked fine for that session.

I just tried to go from 9 to 10 using the above mentioned method. It worked fine and the result was an improvement. 10 sounded more clear and less processed using the same preset.

The files are found in HD/Users/***your name**/Documents/Izotope

There is a folder for each version of Ozone and inside that folder, the Global Presets folder holds the file you are looking for. Just move or copy it to the Global Presets folder of another version of Ozone and Bob is your uncle! You find it in the Ozone plugin under custom presets
