Default Workspace won't index my SFX drive properly

For years I've had a dedicated SFX drive and I can search easily for what I want in the Workspace. Since upgrading to PT11, the Workspace only shows a small fraction of the files in the SFX drive, and invoking the 'Update Index' function only changes the date under 'Last Indexed' to today's date, no actual indexing takes place. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a solution? Will I find it fixed in PT12? (Still waiting for my upgrade)

Any help appreciated, thanks!

I am having the same problem.
Also re-indexed with no success.
I have also noticed that over time, some more files have gone "missing"
I am having to use EasyFind to find the files now.

Please help.

Those sfx drives - are they formatted exfat? That has been known to cause issues in PT11.

So, I solved my problem by mistake.
I re-installed protools 11 from the original downloaded dmg.
In my case I am running PT11.3.0.

All I did was open the .dmg file and click on 'Install Pro Tools 11.3.pkg

Its probably a good idea to use PT PERFS to backup your preferences before the install otherwise you will need to set everything up again.

This solved everything. Files that I have not been able to find in Workspace are now all there in the digital flesh.

Hope this helps you Sonny.

This is still an ongoing issue for me. Over time the database just starts missing more and more results the older it gets.
I have resorted to keeping a backup copy of a database that does correctly search my SFX drive and replacing the corrupted database at least once a week (to save the time of re-indexing a massive SFX library) .
I am on a Mac so the exfat is not the issue.
This is popping up in several other posts now, so Pls Avid get this resolved.

We had this issue also - we gave up and bought a license for Soundminer.

It really is brilliant - you also have the option to only import the bit of the sound effect you want.

We just could not get Workspace to show up all of the effects - and the whole mess of having to click the + button and select different options rather than type a few key words meant that even SFX we knew the name of wouldn't show up.

I resolved this by deleting preferences and databases (the usual go-to for most PT problems) and thereby forced PT to re-index the SFX drive. I still have no explanation for why it indexed it improperly the first time, but at least it's fixed now.

A question I asked a few posts ago you haven't answered - is your external drive formatted exfat instead of the normal Mac formatting?

Sorry, Jack, I missed that. No, it's formatted as a normal Mac drive.

Thanks. That should have indexed just fine unless something weird happened the first time like an AC mains power dropout or brownout. I've had trouble like that in the past and using an UPS (uninterruptible power supply) on the incoming AC solved the issue. These computers we run are so finicky with what's being fed them for power; the least little glitch and weirdness happens.

Glad you got it sorted.
