PT11 start up bug?

Everytime I start up PT11.1.2 in mavericks the playback is a nasty distorted mess
if I change the buffer size to whatever ever was initially there distortion goes away and playback is fine. it does not mater if I go from 512 to 256 or 256 to 512
the sessions can be plug in intensive or just one track and playback will initially be distorted. is this a bug or is it me?
