ProTools 6.4 causes reboot
After installing PT 6.4 on a new machine, I found myself not able to even load ProTools. As soon as I click on the PT icon, my computer instantly reboots itself. Also, Windows isn't even associating my PT session files with ProTools after installation. I recently had a Dell P4 and had no problems of this sorts. The update for PT 6.4 has been installed as well. Has anyone here had a similar problem or am I missing a step here? Thanks.

Re: ProTools 6.4 causes reboot
You need to update your PACE drivers from www.paceap.com

I'm only using the plugins that came with ProTools 6.4 and do not require iLock. I didn't have to use iLock on my P4 Dell and everything worked fine. Unfortunately my P4 Dell died on me and now this new HP reboots itself every time I load up PT 6.4. |

Re: ProTools 6.4 causes reboot
You still need the PACE driver for Protools regardless of wether you have a iLok, It has to do with Protools antipiracy protection.

Re: ProTools 6.4 causes reboot
As Sunburst mentioned, Pro Tools uses the PACE driver for it's authentication. "Reboot on startup" is a classic symptom of having an outdated PACE driver, and the problem/question has been experienced, posted about and solved enough times since 6.4 and Windows Service pack 2 came out that I am most confident that updating the PACE driver will solve your problem. (I'm actually kind of offended that you didn't believe me and instead of just trying it are arguing about it).
Just in case it doesn't solve your problem though, keep in mind that you need to also have the 6.4cs6 plugin update and the 6.4cs9 program update installed as well if you are using Windows XP SP2. P.S.; 6.4 is an extremely old version of the software at this point; I would highly recommend spending the cash and upgrading to the latest version.
