Send PT audio to Vienna Ensemble Pro

I want to send audio from a PT track to Vienna Ensemble Pro. Done a web search and don't come up with anything that helps for PT. Found a video from Vienna on YouTube but that used a different daw. Doing a search here turned up one thread from 2010 but that wasn't any help other than to say I needed to use the standalone version of Vienna and not the server version. The poster didn't say what exact version he used but I'm surmising it was NOT VEPro 7.


I know I have to use the audio input plugin from Vienna on a PT track. I tried using both the server and standalone versions of Vienna but nothing worked as when I went to assign the connection from the audio input VE plugin there was no server to connect to. Is this even possible? PT 2021.6 here.

Start VEP server, create an instance with audio input track in VEP server, instantiate VEP as instrument track in PT session and attach to server. Then insert VEP audio input plug on desired track and you should be able to attach to VEP server instance audio inputs.

Thank you very much for the quick answer. What I was missing was putting VEP on an instrument track. This is something that's not explained in the manual as all that's talked about is MIDI routing and audio routing from VEP back in to PT - nothing about audio routing from PT in to VEP.


I wonder if something changed with VEPro 7 that one can use the server version and not the standalone? I used to use VEPro 6 but again only for instrument hosting in VEP.


What engendered this was I just got a couple of plugins that are cpu hogs (Celestion Speaker Shaper from Softube and Liquidsonics Illusion reverb) and was working on a couple of sessions that PT was getting stressed out on and audio stopping because it ran out of resources. Hopefully this will help. I know I could use commit in PT but I'd rather keep everything 'live' while mixing until I reach what I want.
