Power Regenerators
Hi, anyone have experience with power regenerators for clean power and if they
give any noticable improvement? I know it's not going to be a night and day difference, but I'm looking for that 10-20% extra improvement to my setup. Im looking at the PowerPlant 15 from PS Audio, but it's crazy expensive. |

Re: Power Regenerators
I purchased an Equi=Tech years ago when I had a production setup in a building with poor distribution. It helped immensely. I’ve hung onto it since then and continue to use it.
If you want power regeneration, why not look at the APC Smart-UPS online models. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Power Regenerators
One of the guys from PS Audio explains that UPS should be avoided for high end audio.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXGxlCNBg1k&t=373s Even double conversion pure sine wave UPS's should be avoided according to him. Apparently the class D amplifiers inside the UPS is not designed to handle low power factor loads well wich can lead to spikes and distortion in the sine wave. Im not shure this is true but im just repeating what he says. Also UPS's seems to be very noisy and maby is typically designed for standing in a server room and not in a recording studio enviroment. |

Re: Power Regenerators
PS Audio is a hifi company. They sell snake oil. What they're saying is horse$#!+
Their box might be a good power conditioner but it's 5 times the price of a normal one. Do you have unstable power to begin with? I've used APC and Eaton sine wave UPS of various sizes in various facilities. Some other name I can't recall too. They were all good. I did not like Cyber Power.

Conditioners/regeneraters are used to correct problems with the current not make everythhing sound better. Gear is happy with stable power. That goes for anything electronic not just audio. When I say they were all good, I mean they were reliable with conditioning and battery backup. Mostly what I care about is battery backup. I've only been in one location that *needed* regen. That was later solved by the local utility replacing old transformers and equipment in the area.

Re: Power Regenerators
FWIW, I have used a few different UPS options and all the APC stuff has been solid, with zero issues other than batteries(happens to all brands). Cyberpower, on the other hand, will never be on my list to recommend

Re: Power Regenerators
Another vote for APC equipment. I currently have an APC online UPS for my daw system and it's quiet except for when it does it's self-test at startup. True sine wave out to boot. Also have several other APC ups's on my other computer and audio/video equipment.
