Default I/O Setup gets jumbled up/corrupted

Has anyone else experienced this?

Going from session to session PT HD seems to combine I/O settings from the opened session and the previous saved session.

The newly implemented bus routing options get jumbled up and look almost random.

I have a personal .pio file that's named to conform with our console (48 outs) which i prefer to use as i hate the A,B,C numbering. But when i import it the setup doesn't take to it.

Can i turn off the new internal bus routing? Whilst keeping the internal busses working as normal?

Cheers.

In 8.1x there is a check box in the I/O settings for Keep or not to keep new I/O settings.
This should be a bit more intuitive.
Check if opening older session and uncheck for newer sessions just seem too vulnerable in a working environment.

I (So far ) have found 8.1x sessions going to 8.04 systems works ok but 8.04 sessions to 8.1x I get mixed results.
For now I'm beta-working a separate drive in down time to rebuild my template for the new(ish) 8.1x I/O mapping.
Hopefully this smooths out the workflow.

Input for smoother workflow in a multi-type (Stereo/Surround), multi-user, multi-version (HD 8.04, HD 8.1, LE 8.4)
environment is welcome.

Not much help, but once worked out, the advantage should be great in outboard console and ITB controller setups.

I don't think it's corrupt just confusing.

Yeah, thanks Detroit. My use of the word corrupt is probably incorrect. Jumbled is better!!!

I saw the check box, but it's label is really quite mystifying.

"Sessions overwrite current I/O Setup when opened"

So what it means is use the i/o setup from the saved session?

Why change this now? Is it for their low latency interfaces (ITB mixing)?

It would be great to have the choice to turn this function off. As we all know, keeping it simple, we all come out smiling.

Cheers.

It's definitely confusing. I'm constantly having to rebuild my IO setup and, no matter how many times I set it, my default output setting never sticks.

Same problem here. I was going back and forth with tech support for a bit about 8.1cs1. It seems that busses are getting reassigned. I first thought it was random but I think it has to do with what the busses were originally named and how 8.1 auto names busses, especially with surround routing. My problem was specifically with busses named 'stereo'.

I had to manually reassign all busses going to my surround channels.

Avid eventually told me to stay on 8.0.4.

I am experiencing exactly the same thing. Every time I open a session I have to set the default output. It never sticks.

Same issue here. I have to re-assign the outputs on every session. It's getting tiring, not having your choices "stick".

Didn't want to start a new thread, but am I the only one that absolutely hates not being able to label output sub-paths in PT 8.1? Or am I a complete dolt and missing something??
