Any modern DAW is 1000x more than what Tangerine Dream had at their time and they pulled it off nicely.

Actually you can use Re-wire to make Ableton Live an instrument plugin in ProTools.

Couldn't agree more. When did MIDI come about...the early 1980's? How in the world did they manage to sync all of their analog gear before MIDI existed? This is what is incomprehensible to me.

On another note, how does one go about using Rewire? I know what Rewire does, but don't know much on how to go about implementing it. Do you have to buy an application to run Rewire?

Thanks.

Default Help with 'old-school' Tangerine Dream sound???

Analog gear is implicitly synced, all electrons move at the same speed of light

They do? Electrons possess rest mass and therefore cannot travel at the speed of light. E=mc^2. I guess it also depends on what you mean by 'same'.

I'm going to copy some text below from the Spitfire Audio website. I can't offer a link because it's a product they only offer to their customers who make a contribution to their UNICEF campaign. Search for Spitfire Labs if you want to get it. (I have no relationship to them besides being a customer)

TANGERINES

Christian Henson has a fine collection of vintage analogue synths, including a Juno-6, JX3P, MiniMoog, SE1X, TB303, SH101, and his newly acquired MS20. In this small library Christian has created sounds suitable to recreate the magic of band Tangerine Dream. Christian’s love of this band stem from them sounding a bit like an electrified Steve Reich, and for “that” scene in Risky Business, which Christian saw for the first time at quite a poignant point in his personal development.
