Default Pro Tools 2020 MJPEG Video

Hi I just upgraded from pro Tools 2018 to 2020 Ultimate latest and greatest, on a Mac Pro. Blackmagic decklink 4K for playback

I have always used exclusively .mov files with Photo-Jpeg codec, zero problems.

Everything seemed fine, loaded all seesions (with video fine, etc)
Suddenly some videos don't display, some others do, with exact same specs.

I followed the advice I found here about deleting some Library files
https://jwsoundgroup.net/index.php?/...o-tools-20203/

But unfortunately the problem persists .

Any idea what is the cause? Is Photo-Jpeg not supported anymore? But if that's true, why do some videos play and some do not?

Thanks!

I think MJPEG, Photo JPEG etc. haven't been supported for years.

Here's the up to date info:

https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/ar...up=true#Codecs

DNxHD36 is a good standard codec. Has been flawless for years over here. Either in MXF or QT containers.

Last time I've used MJEPEG or Photo JPEG was on PT5/6 with the Miro DC30+ card. But maybe it has worked after as well... I guess since AVID dropped the QT engine you're better off moving to something more current.

Also: Which version are you on? There was a bug in an early 2020 version that prevented video from playing if there where "special" characters in the path name of the file. (Just asking because you're in Spain). But if you're on 20.5 this is already fixed.

As Frank said, great advice. Lose those ancient and inefficient CODECs. ProRes Proxy or DNxHD36/DNxHR LB are the way to go.
