Default New supported external drive "not a valid audio volume"

I just bought a OEC Mercury Elite-AL Pro firewire external drive because I read here and via Digidesign's site that it was approved and would work, yet after transferring all my sessions to the new drive I still can't set it as a playback or record device in my workspace.

Is there something I'm missing?

I'm running Windows 7, but this external is approved for that as well. I installed the external properly, after all it is letting me transfer data to it, but I can't even open sessions with this device now.

Please help!

But PT is not WIn 7 qualified yet. Are you trying to run 64-bit? No reliable 64-bit firewire drivers exist.

Running 32-bit. Every other drive on my computer, ones that haven't specficially been deemed compatible, can at least playback.

Also, the OEC external can record under video, but only transfer under audio. It's quite frustrating, especially since I spent a lot of time reading about compatability issues and found one that was suppose to work all-around for my system.

How did you format the external? It needs to be NTFS

Did that also. It did it by default. I'm a pretty diligent guy, so this is driving me nuts.

If anyone reading this has a clue, even a guess, it would be great. Trying to decide whether or not to send it back and if I do, what to replace it with.

I saw posts here saying the one I bought worked fine, so I'm a bit clueless now.

Could it be a firewire card problem perhaps?
