Default Problem changing Data drive as recordable

Hello,

A lot of Threads have been opened on that subject but not one solved my problem...

Here's the trouble. I try to change in the workspace window the "T" (Transfert) of my DATA disk into a "R" (Record) but always get a "Your drive is not a valid audio drive".

My Data drive is new, formatted in NTFS and connected in SATA on the motherboard.

What I tried :
  • Reinstall Pro Tools
  • Delete Database and Prefs files
  • Format again and again the drive by changing the size of the allocation table
  • Reinstall Windows 10

There is no special characters in the name of drive as it is "DATA".
Altought tried to call it "data" ---> no success

Hardware in my signature

Thanks !

I can think of 2 possible reasons;
#1-the drive letter. Letters A: and B: are ONLY for floppy drives and cannot be used for a recording drive. If you chose A or B, open Disk Management and change the drive letter to anything else(C: is reserved only for the system drive)
#2-the formatting. NTFS is correct, but is only half of the setup. It needs to be NTFS and BASIC. NTFS and DYNAMIC is the other option, but Pro Tools will not record to a DYNAMIC drive(reformat to NTFS and BASIC to solve this)

You're my GOD !!! Pretty sure that was a problem with the drive letter as it was A:

If having trouble to convert in Basic drive without losing DATA, I've found this tutorial (french) that worked for me using TestDisk.

Thank you so much albee1952

You might also check your partition table type in addition to making sure you are formatting with ntfs basic. Some older versions of protools require master boot record (MBR) partitions and will give this error if the disk is using gpt.
