Default Midi Device files for patch name files

OK, so the latest version of Protools, 6.7 for windows now has the midi studio setup (like
the mac guys have had all along). It also comes with some popular devices already setup with
patchnames for you to select.

For those of us who are downloading patch name (*.midnam) files for devices that aren't in the list, we still need *.middev files to make them work. They are easy enough to create, being just xml text files, but I have created a small, web based application that will create the *.middev file for you to place in the proper directory. All you need to do is input the information about your device. The application is in a perpetual 'beta' state, but is available for anyone who wants to try it out:

Protools MIDDEV file generator

It generates a very generic middev device file that is designed to allow you to
access the patch names in those downloadable midnam files. (There are links on the page to some download sites)
The two things that you need to know from those midnam files are the values between the <Manufacturer></Manufacturer> and <Model></Model> tags.

Feedback is appreciated, good or bad. Hopefully you will find it useful.

Very cool. I also like the idea of the webbased program. This way you dont have to hand out copies, always use the latest version, no difference for mac-users and pc-users (i hope), and you can debug it all pretty easily....

Now let's find a way to use ptle 6.7 with a 001...

Thanks Bastiaan. If I get some free time (Hah!) I'm going to try and put together a midnam generator, but I'm forseeing that will be a lot more complicated.
