Default 96I/O Simultaneous Bi-directional of all ins/outs?

The Digi spec for the 96 I/O states that it is a 16 channel box. However, it has 8 analog, 8 optical, stereo AES/EBU and stereo SPDIF. On the 001, it is possible to utilize all the I/O ending up with 18 simultaneous bi-directional ins/outs.

Question: Can the 96 I/O utilize all of its ins/outs simultaneously and bi-directionally? If not, does it randomly canel input/output on one of the 8 analog or 8 optical if you do use either AES/EBU or the SPDIF signal paths?

I have searched Digi's site and the DUC and can't find anything on this. Info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

FryB

it's a 16 channel box. Yes you can be doing 8 analog ins and outs and 8 digital ins and outs (lightpipe) at the same time. The optical is either spdif or lightpipe so it's either 10 channels or 16.

No, you can't use more than 16 ins and outs simultaneously like you can on the 002. It does not randomly cancel a pair of ins and/or outs if you want to use the AES or S/PDIF ins and outs; you choose which ones you want it to take the place of. I believe that you can only use the AES or S/PDIF ins at once, not both, although both sets of outputs are active (but receive the same signal).
