Default Stacking clips issue

Hi There

When I duplicate a clip (doubling a clip up to play exactly the same audio at the same time on a different track) there seems to be a slight offset, therefore sounds slightly phasey. I've had this problem in the past and i can't remember how it was rectified.

Can anyone remind me?
Cheers
Al

I think the flaw is in your method. Try it like this:
Select/highlight the clip you wish to duplicate>
Hit the Copy command>
Use p or ; to move the selection to the destination track>
Hit the Paste command.

Doing that should put the duplicate in exactly the same starting point, right down the the sample.

Now that I said that, what's the point of duplicating audio and then placing it at exactly the same time? If you are going for a doubling effect, you would want an offset of maybe 1200-1600 samples(a much smaller offset gives the phasing you are now getting). Anytime I am going for a doubling effect, I use the above method(so the copy starts off in the exact same spot) and then use NUDGE to get a consistent offset(assuming I will copy/paste more than a single clip). Having said all that, this kind of fake doubling is probably the weakest of the available options(playing or singing for a real double is my first choice because its consistently the best sounding).

Thanks Dave

I'm using the same method i've used for decades...hitting Alt and dragging down with the grabber tool, exactly duplicating the clip in exactly the place on the timeline.

I'll try your method and see if it makes a difference.

I write effects to these duplicates so they don't get lost of a session goes to someone with different plug ins. Simple huh

Cheers
Al
