Default Opening old session puts EDIT and MIX windows in separate TABS

Think of having multiple TABS in your web browser... when I open ProTools 18.1 with an old session, I have one large window and a tab for MIX and another tab for EDIT. I can separate the tabs by dragging one of them to my second display, but it doesn't reopen that way, even after saving.

Anyone seeing this? It's happening to me on multiple Macs and I'm wondering if it's a hidden OS setting.

System prefs / displays. There should be a setting for “open new windows in tabs”.

This is a High Sierra feature. Now that PT is High Sierra compliant it defaults to tabs if this isn’t unchecked.

We're not running High Sierra at our facility, still on Sierra, and not ALL systems are doing this. I have an HDX2 system in our HD remote truck and it seems to be the only one.

Nothing in Sierra that shows that setting. Anything else?

System prefs / Dock / Prefer tabs when opening new documents - manually (not always)

Will look at that. I'm running High Sierra on my MBPro and iMac at home and don't see the previous mentioned option at all.

Thanks for the reply, however.

Sorry. I suggested the wrong pref panel earlier (I wasn’t at my computer ).
For future reference, on the main system prefs page you can search for “tabs” in the search bar.
