Same problem here. Need help. Also using Mbox, it happens intermittently. Plus, when I go into the Playback Engine dialogue and attempt to change any parameter (which sometimes "frees" up the playback capability (however, rarely), I get the spinning wheel and the "Ok" button on that dialogue window has a dim rectangular shade around it.

Have you tried increasing the playback settings?

ive switched dae my playback buffer from 4 to 8 and it seems to work as a quick alternative to restarting pro tools but it doesnt solve the problem. eventually it does it again and i just switch it back from 8 to 4. id really like to solve the problem indtead of putting a band aid on it. anyone had any luck?

I too have also the same problem, after getting a buffer error. I press play but it stop right away.(no error)
Switching the buffer settings works temporarly but it come back at the next error.
I'm on a G4 1.2Mhz, mbox1, PT7cs1.

This totally sucks ... I've wasted an hour today, and my creative momentum is constantly being depleted by this bug, which at this point is giving me the infinite spinning beachball. Digi, I hope you have already been able to recreate this problem and are working on it, because it is crippling. Before this I wouldn't even think of switching DAW's, but now I'm at wits end. I simply don't know what to do about this. Please understand, this isn't a threat .. it's just a fact.

Please, get well soon.

This 7.0 "upgrade" is shameful. I'm pulling my hair out and missing my deadline, losing money ... why? Because my session either won'y play, or it freezes when i try to toggle the buffer/cache settings (which seems to be the settled upon "quick fix"). Well, I'd like to say "quick fix" is exactly the what it ain't. I'm dead in the water. Thank you digidesign.
