Not that I'm aware of - you'd just have to create a new Aux track with the same I/O. You could drag plugins and sends back to the Aux track.

In Pro Tools, you can't convert a Track to a different Track Type (i.e., Folder to Aux).

In that particular situation, you have the following option:

Select all the Tracks in that Routing Folder, right-click on one of the highlighted Nameplates and from the Contextual Menu select "Move To > Top Level". This takes the Member Tracks out of the Routing Folder hierarchy. But this is just a cosmetic step (organizational). Their outputs are still routed to the Routing Folder Track. You can do the same manually by dragging the Tracks out of the Routing Folder Track. (see screenshot attachment below)

Now hold down sh+opt key and click on the Output Selector of one of the (still selected) Tracks and choose New Track from the Output Menu (or any existing Bus from the bus submenu) to route them to a new Aux Input Track as an Audio SubGroup.
The Routing Folder still remains in your Session, so you can delete it or "repurpose" it.

Be careful. When you re-route the Member Tracks before taking them out of the Routing Folder Track, then you end up with a very confusing routing/organization configuration, where you have an Aux Input Track inside the Routing Folder but the Routing Folder Track now only functions as an organizational tool.

I explain all those detailed grouping/routing options in the "Groups" chapter of my new book "Pro Tools 2020 - How it Works". It happens that this "Groups" chapter is available for free (pdf, Kindle, iBook). Just check the link in the signature below.

For the most part true, but you CAN convert an Aux to a Routing Folder by right clicking on an Aux and selecting Convert Aux to Routing Folder. However, you cannot currently convert a Routing Folder back to an Aux, unless you open the session in an older version of PT that doesn't have folders.

Yes, you are right. Forgot about that "Convert Aux to Routing Folder" command (in the Track Menu or Contextual Menu on the Nameplate).
One thing Avid forgot about that command. There is no option to move all the corresponding Tracks (that are currently routed to that Input) into that newly converted Routing Folder Track. You have to do that manually in an extra step (drag over or use the "Move To >" command in the Contextual Menu on the Nameplate.

Duplicate the routing folder's Subgroup aux, then delete it - the duplicated aux will behave like a regular aux.

This begs the question: why do the conversion?

I think I could have just moved the contents of the routing folder track out of the folder and back to the top. The problem I was having was that the routing folder, when hidden, also hid the contents.

Yes, but I think the whole idea is for track management in large sessions, so bunches of tracks can be hidden and reopened when needed. You can just close the folder without hiding it. If you need the tracks to show all the time, then maybe you don't need folders.
