003 Rack Plus/ Mavericks Kernel_Task issue...please help

Just a little update-- I went back to version 10 of the 003 drivers, and now I can run Pro Tools 11 on my 002r using Yosemite without the extensive kernel_task freakout. It still might not be 100% normal-- there still seems to be as high as a 60% kernel_task spike at times, but not enough to cause Pro Tools to hang in the session I was working on this morning. Perhaps not a total fix, but a definite improvement.

Experiencing this as well after upgrade to 10.10.2 Yosemite. Temps idling at high 90s (C) with PT open (10.3.9 or 11.3) no session loaded. No issues whatsoever with 003 Rack powered off and built-in output as playback engine.

Hoping for a fix soon. Have to restore Mountain Lion system drive clone to get anything done right now.

Using Pro Tools 12 on Yosemite with a 003R and the kernel_task problem is still here. Please, someone at Avid let us know how to fix this.

Pasz, just wondering if you ever got an answer to the Kernal_Task going through the roof? I'm on an iMac5k 10.10.4, PT 12.2 w/003R. Avid said the "Pro Tools Quicktime Server" issue was still in the process of being fixed and they are waiting on Apple. All I know is, when CPU % for Kernal_Task is well over 100%, all I have to do is shut down PT and it will calm down and fan turns off. I've tried Force Quitting the Quicktime Server and it doesn't do much for reducing the Kernal_Task.

UPDATE: While I'm on Yosemite, as mentioned, I have the Kernal_Task through the roof when PT 12 is running. This all started when I got a new system and it came with Yosemite. I spent many sessions with AVID tech and on the last test session, we found the 003R to be the issue. When we turn the 003R off and fire up PT the Kernal_Task it no issue. I have latest drives from Dec. 2014 but no help. They said the Pro Tools Quicktime Server issues is an Apple thing which is supposed to be fixed at some point. So, I'm gonna move away from the 003R with BLA Tweaked Mod......selling it and get another interface.

That's weird because the Pro Tools Quicktime Server is never responding in the Activity Monitor anyway, regardless of the interface used...So is it really an Apple thing? When using my SSL or 896, PTQS is always red in Activity Monitor, but kernel_task is behaving normally - with my 003R+, like you said, through the roof...

I'm having this issue as well. My home studio system is an 003 console, Yosemite, PT12HD, latest (well, almost a year old) 003 drivers. Kernel_task hovers around 70-85% and video engine causes intermittent CPU spikes over 100%.

Any hope for updated drivers or better performance in El Capitan or are we just hosed? I still like my 003 a lot more than what is currently available.

After much work to get this resolved it finally became apparent that the 003R is the issue and needs to be replaced. So the new Focusrite Clarett should be here Friday!!
