protools crash on shutdown

HI folks, I've just started experiencing some anomalies with tools & it makes me think it might be time for a clean install on my mac, maybe upgrade to snow leopard & 8.0.3

Basically every time i shutdown PT it crashes..
It works fine when i'm using it but crashes on shutdown every time.
Also I am having glitches with renaming files inside a session.. PT wont let me rename the disk file, only the region. (i get an error message that is long & convoluted, but i could type it in here if someone thought it worthwhile).

So far i have trashed my database prefs & upgraded from 8.0 to 8.0cs3 as ways to fix these issues, neither worked.

If anyones willing to take a stab at what might be a good move I'd be interested to hear?

I am thinking of doing an upgrade to a clean install of snow leopard & reinstalling 8.0 (which i have the disc for) & then upgrading to 8.0.3. Any pointers on this or the best way to do it.. I really hate changing things when they were working so well, but these little issues just started to happen last week & starting to $%&^% me off.

• RAM 4gig
• firewire 400 external drive (OS extended) used for recording and playback. (800-400cable)
