Default Unable to locate 003

I am running Windows XP sp2 with a AMD Athlon 64 processor 3400+ 2.41 Ghz & 2.5 gb of ram. I have triple-checked my wimdows configuration setting suggested by digi and have sucessfully installed the 003 on a mac to make sure it wasn't the hardware. During installing PT LE 7.3 it recongizes the 003 but after installing and starting up pro tools it give me the error "unable to locate digidesign hardware, make sure your hardware is connected and turned on. Click "ok" when the hardware is ready. Any ideas what's going on? Why is it not recongizing the 003? Are there any other people having problem with Windows XP (sp2), Pro Tools LE 7.3 & the 003?

I would first check to make sure your firewire adapter is compatible with Digidesigns hardware. Some built0in firewire ports on motherboards are not compatible. Some add-on firewire cards are not compatible too. You should also check to update the drivers from the manufacturer if available. Secondly I would check the firewire cable. Are you using the same cable on the Mac as the PC? Firewire cables (and USB cables) have been know to fail without warning even though no physical damage or stress occur. I can'e expalin why but several folks got things to work after replacing the cable. I hope this helps.

I will have to check to see if those fireware ports on the pc or compatable, not sure how but good suggestion. Yes, the same cord i'm using now is the one I successfully used to install on the mac,it's firewire. It's fresh out the 003 box. Thanks for the reply!
