Default Annoying PT highlighting all tracks...!

Why all of a sudden when I click somewhere on the PT grid all my tracks become highlighted? I don't know what I may of done but everytime I click somewhere near the regions all my tracks in PT become highlighted and then I have to click again to unselect them all...I hope somebody knows how to fix this, it's very irritating and distracts me...

Sounds like you have the All Group on. From the Reference Guide (p. 249):

By default, every session has a group named All, which includes every track in the session. The All group cannot be edited or deleted. To show the Group List (and Track List): Click the Show/Hide Track List/Group List View button in the Mix, Edit, or MIDI Editor window.

I think I fixed everything, all I need to know is how do i deselect all the regions in the region list? They're all selected and the tracks are highlighted too, but I can't deselect them for some reason

If I'm thinking of the same thing as you, clicking in the timeline should deselect all the tracks.

I've been experiencing the same problem ever since I upgraded to PT10. When I'm in the middle of a session from out of nowhere all the tracks in my edit window become highlighted. Now if I intentionally highlight a specific region, the annoying highlight will go away but then comes right back when I select a different track. I usually have to restart my session but this is a pain. I'd be interested to know if this is the same thing you're getting and if so if you truly found a fix what said fix might be?

misterphoneman, I am having the same experience in PT10 as you are. I do not have the "All" group selected, yet this highlighting of the entire window seems to happen all the time. Would really like to get rid of this problem, definitely seems like a bug.

This has been going on for a while. It's a bug no question. It happens on the Mac too. Sometimes I delete a clip or change zoom setting and boom, everything in the edit window gets selected. It usually only happens to me at a certain zoom setting, usually 15 or so clicks away from being fully zoomed in.

A quick fix on the Mac at least is to zoom in and out. This clears the erroneous selection. I think it is more likely to happen if different tracks have different track height settings.

This bug has made it through a LOT of PT updates. I know it's not a show stopper but I'm thoroughly fed up with it. It needs fixing.

Thanks Dave. Yes, I am actually on a MacBook Pro w/PT 10.3.1. I'll try your quick fix for now. Hoping for a fix from Avid soon!
