Pro Tools 10 & Focusrite 2i2: Questions Inside

I am not sure how I should set this up. On my first setup I was using an ASIO4ALL driver. This was selected as my playback engine and I could see that I could get levels, record and see levels playing back - however NO AUDIO.

I then uninstalled the ASIO4ALL driver and just have the Focusrite 2i2 as the playback engine. However nothing happens. No signal when record is armed and no levels when playing back - as a matter of fact it won't play.

Not sure if I have to use the ASIO4ALL driver and do some more configuring in Pro Tools 10.

Any advice would help.

I had it working on my AMD Phenom II with 4 gigs and the original Mbox with a driver from a germany website. I built a new PC with I7 & 16 gigs. Nothing I did could get the MBOX to function with it - so I went and got the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. I got further along - but still not up and running.

Basically if I could actually get sound when using the ASIO4ALL driver to my speakers I am good. I had to use this ASIO4ALL driver along with the driver from this website http://www.ploytec.com/ called usb-asio working with the MBOX on my AMD machine.

Just need to know what I am doing wrong when using the ASIO4ALL and Focusrite 2i2. I see levels when playing back, see levels when record is armed, see the wave create from recording and get levels from that track. Just can't get the audio out to my speakers.

If you want to use the Focusrite, you need to download and install the driver for it, found here:

Yeah I have that installed and tried to use it without the asio driver and nothing at all happens. No signals - No audio.

Got it working - after finding this.

Hi Mr Sandman,

The WDM (windows sound) driver uses 16 bit audio however the ASIO driver is 24 bit by default and this cannot be changed, hence no option for it. As long as you set your Pro Tools session to 24 bit and select the Focusrite USB 2.0 ASIO driver then you'll be recording 24 bit with the Scarlett 2i2.
