Default Soundtrack Pro

Hey all, I've searched the DUC for this problem, but haven't found it. When I start up STP it doesn't "grab" PT's core audio, thus I can't play out Digi hardware. All the prefs in STP point to Digi, but no dice on output. I can get GarageBand to play out the 192, curiously enough. I'm running 4 core intel mac with PT 7.4.2 OS 10.5.4. Have things changed with STP since Apogee integration? Any clues would be appreciated.

Hi Mitch,
Sounds like Pro Tools itself is corrupted. Deinstall Pro Tools, reinstall Pro Tools, clean up your OS, remove permissions, databases, reboot, and maybe all better then. Good luck!

Hi,

If you go to the AMS (audio midi setup) setup and select to use the built-in coreaudio driver! does STP work with the built-in coreaudio driver ok!?

Chris

Chris, can this be a plug-in update issue or some firmware update needed?

Hey Mitch,

A work around, or in some ways a better solution, if you do not have a mixing board or multi-in controller, is to take the optical out of the Mac and run it into the in of the 192.

If you need SRC, run it into a cheap Behringer SRC unit (only like $150) and come out AES and into the 192.

This is what I do and I find it to be a much better solution.

Tho, I do not have STP.

It's been an issue recently.
STP like FCP are Quicktime based, and it seems Quicktime is not properly hooking the Digi Coreaudio driver.
Toggle the sound preferences, and verify the settings in AMS.

Same thing is happening to me with redmatica keymap pro. And of course, quicktime player does not hook into the driver.

With STP, are you setting up the Digi HW in Preferences?

Also, make sure you're launching Core Audio Manager first and that it shows 'Connected' before launching STP.

Casual testing here shows it's working fine.
