Default Neve 8816 Summing Mixer

Anybody using this? Curious about the Monitoring section. Any input please.

Thanks in advance,

Just got one, - nice unit that ads some of that Neve-tone to the sound, - like what it can do summing a few busses.

Dont use the monitor-section tho, - but like what the m/s-feature can do to the sum.

I hate to tell you - but ... in my opinion..... the "NEVE" sound left the company when Rupert NEVE left the company.... and that was about 20 years ago.

I say this as I've worked on Neve consoles and gear that he designed... and consoles that were designed after he left - and there is NO comparison

absolutely no comparison.

Well, - I didnt really expected the unit to sound like an old 70-80-series´s desk, - im familiar with sound of Neve from yesteryear;-)

I still think the 8816 can do some nice things summing a drum-mix ect. and as I wrote - ad a little Neve-like sound. Anyway, I like the unit, - real Neve or "not so real Neve" and that was the question;-)

Cheers

The Neve summing box was out of my price range so I went with an Audient Sumo. LOVE IT! Fantastic sound quality. Really helps my poor old mix system! I use a SSL clone buss compressor on it's insert instead of the on board one, mainly because I'm used to it and how it works. Apogee Trak2 to get mix back in the rig. Really dig being able to use outboard in my mixes. There are some things hardware is still better for.

Thanks guys. Is there anyone using the monitor section? I was kind of hoping to buy just this one box for both purposes.

Thanks,

Keith Moore

Yes, love it.
try mixonline.com and see the review -it tells alot of things not in the manual or said in a different way.
The m/s is powerful-mastering use it - widens the stereo image, also.
The inserts with the stereo widen and m/s are gonna sound more pro.
better than the folcrom and the dangerous. had both.
