Default Could use a bit of info... (license and iLok question)

Hello people,

Should be quick & simple but I'd like get the right answer to :

1) I am reading about surrendering existing PT licenses past 12.6.
What does that exactly mean ??

I currently have 12.4 installed, have a perpetual license with support updated to Dec, 2017.
I can see 12.6 & 12.7 available in my accounts, but more that content with 12.4 ( which I use very little .. on a different main DAW ) and want to stay with that setup, until some breakthrough new feature or a solid working fixed version becomes available.
I do read these forums occasionally, and trust some users opinions a lot.
So...what happens when I try installing a newer PT version past 12.6 ??
Will I lose my access to go back to my current 12.4 ?
That's how I understood Avid's wording on this..

2) I have an original old and the newer v2 iLok running on my PC with different licenses on each. I would like to consolidate everything to the new v2 device ( moving stuff over from the old one ).
Is it safe ? Can it be done via the iLok license manager only, or do I need further actions ?

thanx for reading and will truly appreciate your advice.

1) I've already moved up top 12.6 and 12.7. You're just replacing one license with another. So, no, if you have licenses now for PT 10, 11 and 12, that won't change. That said, make sure the license is in your iLok account before upgrading. Some didn't wait for that and weren't able to open PT after upgrading until Avid deposited the new license in their iLok account.

2) It should be as simple as moving the licenses from your original iLok to your iLok account and then back onto the iLok2.

And knowing how paranoid you are, I'm assuming you already have iLok's ZDT and TLC coverage, yes?

Thanks Bruce for that helpful info. To clarify a bit further...

1) Customers with 10/11/12 bundles got similar bundles that include the new "Perpetual" license which adds support for 12.6/later. You can check the contents of your license bundle (deposited 9/27) in iLok License Manager or on ilok.com to know what you are getting...

Pro Tools Perpetual Bundle (with 10/11/12)
Pro Tools 10 (authorizes 10.x)
Pro Tools 11 (authorizes 11.x)
Pro Tools 12 (authorizes 12.0 - 12.5.2)
Pro Tools Perpetual (authorizes 12.6 - Release Limit date shown in the bundle's Details in iLok License Manager)

So after upgrading your license you'll still be able to run any version back to 10.0.

2) If you plug both iLoks in you can simply drag your licenses from one to the other.

Paranoid ? he..that has always been my middle initial. I'm almost retired and don't really feel like being on top of everything software wise .
Actually have just donated my body for research, but they asked for my hardware collection instead...

Right..

And my iLok account shows these :

Does anything seems to be funky with these ?? Should the deposit date show my most recent update of DEC 2016 ??

That looks correct, assuming you renewed your Upgrade Plan (to get PT releases) and not your Plug-Ins and Support Plan.

You'll still be able to run a previous version of PT after upgrading your license bundle.

You might just be looking at what's on your iLok? I see a Pro Tools Perpetual Bundle (with 10/11/12) deposited 9/27/2016 that's in Pending status - it's waiting for you to activate it to your iLok (which will then take the old bundle in surrender).

The new license bundle includes support for all versions from the previous bundle, it simply adds support for for 12.6/later. You don't lose anything by upgrading the license bundle.
