Default Connect an old 192 to Avid HD i/o?

I'm working with producer that has a relatively new HD system , new Mac Pro, Expansion , Native cards and a HD i/o , can I connect his old 192 via the expansion port for extra I/o?

Appreciate any help, am finding conflicting advice via a google search

Yes. I have an Avid HD I/O 16x16 connected to a Digidesign 96I/O connected to an Apogee Symphony I/O 16x16. All works perfectly.

In my situation the only caveat is that the Apogee can't be first, even though it's my primary interface.

Also, while they use the same protocol, the newer Avid boxes use Mini Digilink connectors whereas the 192s have regular (larger) Digilink connectors. So you'll need an adaptor cable.

OT - why the 96? Doesn't that mess your global Cal up? The 96's are -14 iirc and the 192's and HDi/o's are all -18 default iirc

Sorry to hijack....but if we are talking about mixing and matching I believe that Global Calibration is a legitimate subtopic....

96 only does headphones (use to do AFL/PFL as well before Avid "fixed" the I/O Setup in PT12).

Avid and Apogee do all the heavy lifting.
