Default MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo Not Recommended For PT12

I just learned that my MacBook Pro (Mid2010) with a Core 2 Duo is not "recommended" for use with PT12. I plan on upgrading my SSD card and my RAM to 16GB. Other than that, is there anything I can do to ensure that PT12 will work on my machine? It works sometimes right now, others it freezes when trying to load. I'm assuming this is due to this incompatibility. I've read that it's extremely difficult to upgrade the processor in any computer, but what are my other options?

Computer Specs:
MacBook Pro 13 inch, Mid 2010
Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics:NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB

Default Re: MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo Not Recommended For PT12

Core2 Duo MacBooks have been not-recommended for Pro Tools in quite a while. The issues with the duo are one it's underpowered for some things, but also there was specific problem at least at one time with USB drivers that would prevent things from workign at all.

You cannot upgrade your CPU. You need to purchase a new MacBook. But you really need to work out what is goign on. It could be a CPU issue, disk issue, lack of memory, incompatible/buggy plugins, etc. Make sure your system meets all the other requirements, has a dedicated audio drive (or a fast SSD), enough memory etc. If you can add enough DRAM then turn on disk cache in Pro Tools 12, make sure the system is fully optimized, print VI tracks to audio tracks, operate sessions at lower sample rates, use a larger IO buffer, use less plugins, less CPU hungry VIs, etc.

Can you elaborate on this?
