Default HTDM?

Since in 6.7 it is possible to insert RTAS plugs even in aux and master tracks, which is the adventage of using HTDM plugs rather than RTAS of the same type? Generally HTDM plugs cost more than RTAS.

You can use HTDM plug-ins anywhere you can use a TDM plug-in... meaning on tracks which are record armed, or Aux tracks which have an audio input.

I can think of plenty of reasons not to use HTDM plugs - because they are less reliable and you can't tell how much CPU they use!

But you can only do a mono to stereo in TDM and HTDM right?

I was just about to post a similar question. What happens when for example :
Last night I was workin on a mix and ran out of DSP thanks to Reverb One.(sux)
And I need to setup about 5 more stereo auxes with reverbs on them. I can't even just put sh*tty D verbs on them as rtas. WTF??!?!? What am I supposed to do now. and dont you dare say audiostuite!

Buy another accel card. HD1 isn't enough for mixing.

But from what I've understood and from what I've read in the manual, from 6.7 PT allows to insert RTAS in aux and master tracks, like audio tracks. The limit is to have to insert RTAS first and then TDM in the slot chain. I'm still on LE and I can't check this.

No.. you misread that.. you can only insert an RTAS Instrument on an Aux Track (and follow it with RTAS plug-ins)... you can't put the Aux Track on "input" and feed it via a bus or physical input.

Therefore, even in 6.7 in master and aux tracks used as sub, are TDM and HTDM the only format that can be placed in?
