Default What mixer are you using with your Digital 192

are you outputting aes/ebu at high sample rates - or sticking to adat - just wondering - what you are using - and how it's working for you

Actually, on our large system we're using SSL DeltaLink which takes 64-channels of MADI and sends it directly to 2 Digi cards via digilink cables. We're running 128-IO from our console into an HD4 ProTools system without any interfaces.

On smaller systems we're running AES from 192 interfaces.

thanks eric,

i'm attempting to play in the land of higher sample rates - but i'll have to purchase an access point into my digital 192

currently i use a a spirit 328 into a digital 192 by way of lightpipe - this allows me to play at 24/48 (hey so did my original mbox...groan - ha ha)

i have an octopre MKii and a Presonus Firestudio 26/26 - these units will smux...my digital 192 will not smux

the new interfaces from Avid will smux....so maybe i'll go there

although i would love the option keeping the digital 192 and getting what I need in/with a new (or used) console (as one can never have enough consoles taking up valuable space in ones' studio now can they?)

a console that spoke AESEBU to my digital 192 is the target

My budget is up to $2k

yes - it's a humble studio...mostly creating soundtracks and performing post audio on a film or two per year...I'm a weekend 'post warrior'

after looking into a few options - perhaps my cheapest solution might be to simply buy a Digidesign 96 and plug it into the expansion port on my 192 - the Digidesig 96 will give me an additional 8 analog ins at 24/96, plus two by way of spidif - the 96's are going very cheap on ebay (new!!)

thoughts?

been awhile...sold off the 192i, sold off the spirit 328 (find myself rather missing that one for some odd reason)

but, got an anaolg 192

using the 96 analog for headphone mixes

snagged a command 8...(got rid of 24channels of Mackie control in the process)

bought a digi Pre ($800 come on!!)

it's all working fine, just bought a Digi expansion box...cause I'm on PT 8HD...and plan to stay there, with an older card system, for the next few projects...although, I'll advance my native system to the current state of is (while comparing it to Reaper - as always - ha ha - all good - on both fronts!)

relating to my first question - 'a console/mixer' - I looked into the Zed R16 ...but saw unhappy protoolers who wanted not only an analog frontend, but a controller as well - well, this mirrors my (updated) hopes - so I'll wait until someone makes something that fits the bit for $2k..til then, I'll love my command 8 on my Hd rig (with VCC on all)
