Digi 003 Factory Control Surface via firewire extender
I have a Digi 003 Factory that is in my studio that I'm trying to get connected with my XServe located in my computer room 65ft away. I've tried connecting it via a 400mbps firewire repeater but it is very hit and miss.
I have been running tests on my system the past couple days trying to narrow the problem and I was almost certain that it was the firewire 400 repeater. But then I tried using my 003 Rack instead of the control surface over the firewire repeater, and it worked fine. Any ideas? Does the 003 Factory require more firewire power than my 003 rack because it has so many more functions? Or is there any other way that I can get my 003 in my studio without using a firewire extender? Thanks |

Re: Digi 003 Factory Control Surface via firewire extender
Hi,
I'm considering setting up a 003 and an XServe in a rehearsal space. There's not much spare room, hence the XServe instead of a Mac Pro. The 003 sit be located near the XServe so I won't need to deal with firewire extenders, but I was wondering what your general impression was of this set up. Is you Xserve very noisy? Any other comments? Thank you in advance for any feedback you have to offer. |
