Slowing down the tempo
Hi,
Is it possible/OK to slow down the tempo of a whole song in PT(16 tracks)?Something like 5%,going from aprox 96bpm to 90bpm.If possible will there be some loss of sonic quality? Does Pitch'n time do it? Thanks |

Re: Slowing down the tempo
I have done it with PnT2 on about 8 tracks with no noticeble problems. It should work on 16 tracks.

Re: Slowing down the tempo
Speed from Wave Mechanics is a way to go for lots of time compression. I have been using Pitch and TIme 2 and Speed together. I noticed that PT2 tend to screw up timing if the track has lots of empty space. Speed does it more accurate. Maybe it was just me.
Althought, I love PT2 pitching with a graph.

Re: Slowing down the tempo
Let's say I have a track with lots of regions.Would it be a good idea to consolidate the regions before applying Pitch and Time?Would this help the process in terms of trying to avoid messing up with the tempo?

Re: Slowing down the tempo
I have had better luck waiting till i finished mixing the song, sub-mix to a stero file, then change the tempo on that file. Sometimes you get away with it, other times you can hear garbage. You will just have to try it. But I have never had trouble getting good results if i do mix to stereo first.

Re: Slowing down the tempo
We've recently done some re-mixing of Dance tracks for actual dancers competition pieces. We just used the Digi-rack time expansion/compression tool, and it works flawlessly. I did not hear any sonic loss. I do not think you can match beats per minute though. We just saw the length of track at say 3:40 and moved the slider to 3:30 to cut off ten seconds. It was great. It's definately a fast and easy tool to try.
