delay compensation with video track
I apologize for the rudimentary question in advance.
We're using a simple set up at our post house. We have PT 7.2 cs 1 running a QT video through a canopus advc 110 on a G5 dual 2 gig with 1.5 gigs of ram. We just got the L3 Ultramaximizer. When we use it on a master buss we get a large amount of delay which is to be expected with such a plug in. The question we have is how do people usually deal with plug in delay when working to a quicktime video. Will delay compensation also delay the video track, or is it common to print the effects and manually compensate for the delays. Thanks in advance Matt

Re: delay compensation with video track
well, i'm not gonna talk to you unless you have a syncheck box:
SYNCHECK and, i am sure you used the QT offset for your canibus (16-22 qtr frames depending.....) for any plug that exceeds the ADC, i create new playlist for the new position and i slide it back the amount i need and make a comment on the track. for noise reduction, i often will print to a new track and slide back.

Re: delay compensation with video track
Thanks,
we do indeed know that you must offset the video for use with the canopus. It sounds like the solution for plugs that exceed the ADC time is in fact to manually adjust after the plug effect is printed as both you and I said. The deeper question is whether ADC has any effect on a QT in Pro Tools, or if the only thing that effects QT timing is the video sync offset. Is anybody else out there using L3 on a master buss and run into similar issues? Thanks for the help! Matt Grimm

Re: delay compensation with video track
i just tested the link and it took me to www.syncheck.com which is where i wanted you to go. read the papers and get that box.
afaik, ADC delays each channel of audio the necessary amount to equal the Longest Delay (which is a great movie about the Normandy D-Day [not Doris Day] invasion)...THEN, pulls it back all together to be back in time. i don't believe that it effects the Quicktime Video at all.
