Default Monitors \"snap\" when turning on/off

I've had this problem for years. I've got a pair of Event 20/20 bas at home and everytime I turn on or off a monitor, the other will snap loudly. It's almost as if I'm turning it on/off at the far positive or negative peak of the AC, and it therefore emits a loud snapping/popping sound. I've recently put a 2 way halogen lamp on my desk and everytime I switch between the 2 modes, the monitors snap as well. Any idea as to what exactly is causing this, and how to rid myself of it? Thanks.

Best regards,
Siegfried Meier
