Default Re: Problems with PTLE? Post your configuration here..

Hello all, I am desperate here, I can't get the damn thing to work. I have the Mbox One and pro-tools LE 6.7

When I try and install the Mbox and pro-tools, and then launch protools, I get a bluescreen that says windows has been closed to prevent damage to your system yada yada,

and for some reason, during the installation it would not be able to find the device drivers. so I went out and downloaded the appropriate drivers, and then tried again, this time it installed fine, but when I tried to open it I got these Messages:

ProToolsLE.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point _DsiSetThreadPriority@8 could not be located in the dynamic link library DSI.dll

Error Starting Program
A reuqired DLL file, DFW.dll was not found.

What is causing this, and how do I fix it.

Here is a brief rundown of my PC:

Dell Inspiron e1505 with Intel Core 2 Duo 1.83 ghz
2 gb of DDR Dual Channel Ram
80 gb Sata Hard drive
Radeon x1300 128mb Mobile Graphics Card.

What's the deal?

Default Re: Problems with PTLE? Post your configuration here..

I have a new ASUS P5B-E system based on the P965 chipset with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor (E6600), 2GB of DDR2-800 RAM, along with the onboard VIA IEEE 1394 firewire interface.

It has serious problems with playback (filtered dream demo):

H/W Buffer Size Error
--------------- -----
1024 samples -9129
512 samples or lower -9092

If I enable "Ignore Errors During Playback/Record" I occasionally hear a short burst (< half a second) but that's it. I always get error -9092 when attempting to record (input 1).

- I tried setting the processor affinity hack - no change.
- The multi-core Windows hotfix had no change, with or without the registry change.
- I've tried disabling the Gigabit ethernet interface in Windows and BIOS - no change.
- The DirectX diag tool (dxdiag) doesn't output audio with the "Music" test or the
"DirectSound" test, when the output is set to "Digidesign MBox 2 Pro 1/2". (The DirectSound test works fine for the SoundMAX HD Audio output - on motherboard.)

I did some searches on the DUC forum before buying this motherboard, for which there were no complaints, so I'm at a total loss of what to do from here :-( Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

Hi chrisf,

I imagine you checked this out since it looks as if you've done some research. I saw this though when I did a search for your "-9129 error" in "suport and downloads". Check it out if you havent already:

This is directly from that, and there's more, including the affinity issue that you've already tried.

.................................................. .............................................

-9093, -9094, -9129 error messages occuring on Windows operating systems.
For Intel-based systems, updating the Intel Ultra ATA storage controller to the Standard Dual PCI IDE controller resolves these errors. To do this:

1. Go to Start Menu > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > IDE/ATA ATAPI Controllers.
2. Right Click on the Intel Ultra ATA storage controller and choose Properties.
3. Click the Driver tab, and then the Update Driver button.
4. The driver update wizard will start. Choose the bottom option for "Specify the location of the driver" and click "Next".
5. Now choose the bottom option for "Display a list of all drivers in a specific location" and click "Next".
6. Double click on the Standard Dual PCI IDE Controller to install this driver.
7. Close the device manager and restart the computer.
8. If the operating system is Win98 or WinME, be sure to enable DMA for any Hard Drives after the restart (see abase #6381).

Good Luck, Dave

I got my PTLE/MBox2 Pro setup working at last

The fix was using a PCI firewire card instead of the onboard VIA one; so the ASUS P5B-E works but not its onboard firewire.

I managed to get hold of this card which seems to work great so far:

NEC PCI uPD72873 IEEE1394 Adaptor

The box is marked ST Lab - PCI Firewire 1394 Controller Card as pictured at:

Greetings friends,

Spkguitar - you are master when it comes to these issues... it seems like you've probably solved over 400 people's problems. I've tried to fix this issue on my own (using a lot of your recommendations from other posts), but I'm at an impasse. I was about to bite the bullet and purchase a new computer, but I thought I'd give it one last try and see if you could see where potential conflicts would be arising. Anyone else who has thoughts, feel free to offer them!

Here's the scenario: I'm running a Lenovo Thinkpad Z60m (Sandra specs below) with the Mbox Mini and PTLE 7.1. Everything worked great for about 3 weeks, and suddenly I started receiving the -9092, -9093, -9094 interrupt errors anywhere from 1-5 minutes into a session during record and playback. I hadn't installed anything new or changed any settings that would have caused this problem. It occurs with the same frequency whether I use my external firewire drive or my internal system drive. I tried disabling all the recommended things (bluetooth, wireless, APCI battery control etc.), running in diagnostic mode, switching to standard IDE controllers, reinstalling PTLE several times... no luck. I'm stumped because many of the other Thinkpad models are compatible, and I can't find any components in this thing that aren't up to Digi specs. The chipset is fine. It's just weird that it was working for 3 weeks and then start having interrupt problems. I thought it might be the external HD (Western Digital seems to have caused problems for a couple of people), but the same thing happens with the same predictability when I record to the system drive. I appreciate any help you can offer - you're my last resort before I have to drop another couple grand on a new laptop. Thank you!

Default Re: Problems with PTLE? Post your configuration here..

I am using the Mbox2. After having problems on my Dell XPS laptop and a firewire drive, I upgraded to a Tyan Quad. I still get buffer errors. I would love to try a different peice of hardware to rule out the Mbox2 but I am not about to upgrade to the 003 without some assurance that this won't happen with that hardware too.

[/b]Error: The operating system held off interrupts for too long. If this occurs often, try increasing the "H/W Buffer Size in the Playback Engine Dialog. (-9094)[/b]

Occurs: Can happen in any session but most often occurs during record and playback of sessions with more than 2 or 3 midi tracks or sessions with lots of automation. I am currently running PT 7.1cs10. I don't use any plug-ins that did not come with the ignition pack other than a full version of BFD and a full version of Melodyne Uno. I have separate 10,000 rpm Raptor SATA drives for Windows, Audio, and BFD.

I have reverted back to an Acronis image of a fresh windows install after all tweaks whenever I try a fresh install of Pro-tools. I have tried upgrade to 7.3 but I get massive buffer errors on sessions with only a single audio track after the upgrade to 7.3. (Which I have attempted twice.) Upgrading to 7.3 makes it worse. Going back to 7.1cs10 brings it from unbearable to only very frustrating levels.

I believe I have gone above and beyond in troubleshooting this problem. Unfortunately my Mbox2 is past the free support period.

Steps I have taken:

BIOS tweaks:
Integrated Devices > Audio Codec: [Disabled]
Advanced > NV RAID Configuration > [Disabled]
Advanced > PCI Configuration > Onboard Device Control > IEEE1394 control > [Enabled]
Advanced > Floppy Configuration > Legacy Diskette A: [Disabled]
Advanced > Floppy Configuration > Legacy Diskette B: [Disabled]
Advanced > I/O Device Configuration > Serial port A: [Disabled]
Advanced > I/O Device Configuration > Serial port B: [Disabled]
Advanced > I/O Device Configuration > Parallel port: [Disabled]
Advanced > I/O Device Configuration > Floppy disk controller: [Disabled]
Advanced > IntruderSupport [Disabled]
Boot > QuickBoot Mode: [Enabled]
Boot > POST errors: [Enabled]
Power > AMD PowerNow [Disabled]

Windows Tweaks:
Disabled system standby and power management
Disabled ClearType font smoothing
Disabled Data Executive Prevention
Enabled DMA for IDE hard drives
Disabled Network Adapter drivers
Disabled system startup items and services
Deleted DAE and Pro-Tools preference files and Digidesign Databases folders. (I have written a batch file to accomplish this annoying task.)
Adjusted display settings for best performance
Set Processor Scheduling to background services and memory usage to system cache
Set display color quality to 16-bit, and hardware acceleration to none
Disabled desktop backgorund image
Disabled screen saver
Disabled Fast User Switching
Disabled Power Schemes and Hibernation/Sleep modes

The problem I'm having is constant interrupts during recording and playback. I've tried changing the buffer size and everything, but that isn't helping. I am constantly reducing/increasing it.
