Unstable protools 12 and no audio with Presonus Studiolive

I've recently updated my PT MP9 to PT12. But for some reason my presonus studiolive desks don't like this.
When I fire up ProTools it almost every time crashes on load. And when it eventually does load there are no audio streams into the mixers or into protools. In other words I can't playback AND can't Record. Also PT is extremely unstable.
If I turn off or disconnect the mixers there is no problem at all.
I tried different drivers and firmware versions but all with no luck.
The really weird thing is that when I load studio one by presonus there it all seems to work.
So my conclusion is that there is a serious communication problem with protools and the studiolive mixers.
Nou I would like to sort this out because I like protools, studio one isn't working for me. And I just bought the upgrade.

Has someone experience with this problem? Is it Protools? or Presonus?
Please help me out because it's getting a really annoying problem!

MacPro 3.1 2,8 GHz
El Capitan (but tried mountain lion to)
Pro Tools 12
12 GB RAM
a motu midi express 128 usb midi interface (connected on the back usb port)
a presonus faderport (connected on the back usb port)
2 Presonus StudioLive 32.4.2 mixers that are linked together and connected via a firewire 800 cable to the Mac Pro via the firewire port on the back.
