Also, read the manual. You might have to use special cabling after your patchbay. Say, you have balanced TRS patchbay connected to the Avid interface and the manual says that "instead of shorting cold to ground, cut it off and only use ground and hot" (don't really know because I only use balanced connections, that's why DI's are there for), in this case you would have to create a TS-to-TRS cable where on the patchbay side nothing is connected to the ring part of the plug.
