Hotrod DeVille 4x10 with Amplitube?
Confessions first; I'm no electric guitarist! Finger-style acoustic with more than a nod to Mr. Ryland Cooder is where I'm at, but I recently acquired a sweet '96 Standard Tele and borrowed a mate's 4x10 Hotrod DeVille. I want one of those! I also recently traded my 001 for a 002 Rack and it came with the freebie Amplitude software, which is kinda fun, but I can't seem to find that fat, clean, insistent tone of the DeVille. I realise that the full-on application has more whistles and bells, and it's a whole lot cheaper than a 4x10 DeVille, but is it possible to get an emulation that good with Amplitube?

Re: Hotrod DeVille 4x10 with Amplitube?
Nothing beats the real thing, especially when it comes to tube amps. Amplitube can get some nice effects, and some interesting amp sounds, but it's never going to sound like a real 4x10 tube amp no matter how long you tweak it. Amplitube is probably the weakest guitar simulator out there, the PodXT does a much better job, and for TDM folks there's always Amp Farm which is really quite good at certain sounds as well - but if you're a tone junkie, you gotta have the real deal as you are quickly discovering.

Slim,
yeah! I knew that was coming and I deserved it! The trouble with the real DeVille, apart from the price, is..... Nah! It's just the price. And the weight. And the size. And the fact that I've no opportunity to really crank it up. Thanks for the reality check. maccool.

Re: Hotrod DeVille 4x10 with Amplitube?
dude, pick up a fender blues junior. In my opinion the best sounding fender tube out- well, maybe not better than a twin, but quite close. I LOVE IT! Very small, easy to move and record- I throw a condenser in front of it, drop a sound blanket over the whole setup, and it sounds amazing. I use a little amplitube to add effects like delay or wah, but the blues junior simply can't be beat. Only $285 as well.
p.s. I use a '72 deluxe modded Telecaster reissue, put new pickups in it, a fender USA '72 humbucker at the neck- I can't tell you how amazing the combo of the tele and blues junior is. I've owned LOTS of amps, peavey classic 30, line 6 stuff, and other fenders. Trust me, you won't be dissapointed
