Multiple systems, multiple iLoks?
Hey all,
We are new to the post-audio (for film/tv) world, but after taking on our first serious project it is clear that we need a 2nd system. I have been a PT user for years, since 8LE. I'm seeing quite a few licenses listed in my iLok account. Also, a studio gave me a ton of Avid gear (HD Accels in Magma, plus an old 192) that I'd like to take advantage of. Right now, I have PT 12.x (perpetual) running native on my main system (Desktop PC), and also on a MacBook Pro for when I have location jobs at a studio. Up until now, I simply took the iLok with me for location gigs. What I would like to do is get a 2nd iLok and put only version 10.3 on it, so I can use the old Avid gear with it and have that running on my MacBook Pro, while the other mixer works on the main station. This would allow me to do the dialogue mix, while she works on SFX/music/etc at the same time. What I can't figure out is if I have the ability to do this. Some of the licenses are listed as bundled and others are "non-transferrable." I have attached a screenshot. If anyone has experience w/ this and can confirm, I would really appreciate it. I don't want to order a 2nd iLok without knowing. Thanks! |

Re: Multiple systems, multiple iLoks?
Transfer relates to moving a license to another account. If you are simply adding another iLok to your account that doesn't apply - you can freely move licenses between your iLoks and account (though some licenses have requirement for 2nd/3rd gen iLok).
Looks like you have a couple Pro Tools 10/11/12 bundles and a single Pro Tools 10 license, so any of those could be activated to a second iLok for your other system to run v10.x.

Re: Multiple systems, multiple iLoks?
Something I do when I'm going somewhere else to work is moving the licenses back into the account and then move them back to my iLok when I get to my destination. That way nothing is lost in case I lose the iLok.

Although you can move your licenses around, you will need an active Pro Tools 10 HD license to use the TDM cards. Based on your screen shot, it looks like all your licenses are plain vanilla...and not HD. HD licenses look something like the following: (Unfortunately, there is no free upgrade to move from PT10 "Vanilla" up to PT10 "HD.")
