Paste To Location, Not To Area.
Hello!
Why is it, that I can't paste to a location? Why do I have to select an area, before I paste? I would like to be able to copy bars three and five, then paste them to bars nine and ten; between bars nine and eleven. Why do I have to select the area? Why can't I just put the cursor at bar nine, Cmd-V, BOOM! and move on? What am I missing?

Re: Paste To Location, Not To Area.
so, if you put your cursor at bar Nine, and you already have your 2 bars cut & selected .. then just hold the Control key and click on the Clip .. Bam moves to Bat Nine
is this what you are looking for ???

What I'm talking about is "copying", where you select bars three and four, Cmd-C, move the cursor to bar nine, Cmd-V, new material pasted at bar nine. As it is now, I have to select bars nine and ten, then Cmd-V, or else nothing is pasted.

Re: Paste To Location, Not To Area.
Thanx, for the suggestions, but, I think I'll continue selecting the area. Spot Mode takes longer.
Sonar, Sequoia, Nuendo .... they all operate the way Craig Anderton described sequencers, like musical word processors. Select area, Ctrl-C, place cursor at new location, Ctrl-V, BOOM! Next?

You do have to make sure the cursor in on the same tracks that what you want to paste came from. For example, if I select 2 bars across 3 tracks and hit copy, I need to put the cursor at the bar position I want to paste them to on the same 3 tracks. Make sense? See gif. |

you said "Why do I have to select an area, before I paste?" when above you clearly say "Select area, Ctrl-C, place cursor at new location, Ctrl-V, BOOM! Next" i am happy you are sorted but that was confusing ..
