Focusrite VRM Box w/PT 9.0.2 - won't work thru S/PDIF
Windows 7 64 bit
Mbox 2 Pro (2nd generation) Firewire Pro Tools 9.0.2 I have my playback engine set to Focusrite. I can hear audio through the VRM Box when the S/PDIF cable is NOT attached- only the USB cable is connected from computer to VRM Box. When I connect the S/PDIF Out into the VRM Box S/PDIF IN (USB also connected) I get no audio from the VRM Box. Hopefully there is some setting I have not set. Ideas? Thanks. |

I'm not entirely sure what you're saying, but have you made sure that you've gone to Setup -> Hardware, and then selected SPDIF instead of Internal?

Re: Focusrite VRM Box w/PT 9.0.2 - won't work thru S/PDIF
Thanks for the answer.
I went into Hardware setup - it's set to "Focusrite USB ASIO Driver" Playback engine set to "Focusrite USB ASIO Driver". No sound coming out of the VRM box headphone jack. But if I disconnect the S/PDIF Out cable from the Mbox 2 Pro and also from the VRM box - I can hear output through the VRM box. |

Re: Focusrite VRM Box w/PT 9.0.2 - won't work thru S/PDIF
Hi there,
It's my understanding that the SPDIF IN on the VRM box is only used in conjunction with another sound card. So, you would set Pro Tools to use your main sound card then route a signal from that via SPDIF to the VRM box and your headphones. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Rich |

Re: Focusrite VRM Box w/PT 9.0.2 - won't work thru S/PDIF
I haven't tried it with Pro Tools as I have MP9, but my VRM box works as it should with Sonar and a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40. The Pro 40 is set as the output from Sonar. I connect the VRM box to the S/PDIF output on the Pro 40, and a PC USB port, and then start the VRM control panel.
