Default Can't hear input sound on headphones

Hi,

I just got a 003 Rack plus. When I record an audio track in input 1, I can't
hear the singer through my headphones DURING THE RECORDING.

I can hear it during playback, yet, the signal is very soft.

Mic: SM57

Any thoughts?

THANKS!!!

Did Mama describe it backwards then? She said she can't hear during recording but can during playback???

Ah yes, let's keep this one simple then. Since the signal is very soft during playback and cant be heard during recording(cuz there is probably no gain), I'd say we start with the input gain and the mic/line button.

Hi Keybetsss,

Thanks for the reply.

I CAN'T hear it during recording & CAN hear it during playback.

You wrote { Do u have it unmuted & the volume turned up on the headphone 1.. & u don't have it in #2 & turning up #1 do u? }

I have it on Headphone 1 with the volume up. The mute is off.
The only lights which are on, are the Input 1 and HOST.

Hope this helps.
I'll check on 'enable input only monitoring mode'

You're channel also has to be selected for mic level on the hardware with a good gain level set. I believe the 003+ has this on the front.

Hi KeyBeeetsss & Shan,

As you can tell, I'm just getting hooked on this...

Mic: SM7 is connected on the back of the 003 Rack+ [on input 1]
ON the front: the gain knob is @ 10 o'clock approximately

I am just recording random singing. The playback is veeeery soft and I CANNOT
hear the input signal on my headphones during recording.

Playback of other pro tools files is normal and I also imported a CD track into a session which sounds just ok. So, the headphone is ok.

The mic is brand new (hopefully not defective).

thank you both!
