Track Color / Region Color?

In PT 8.0.1...

Edit window - when selecting a track to change the track color and region color, I can change the TRACK AND REGION COLORS at the same time/in one step on SOME tracks but not others (in the others I have to open the color palette and select "track" and "region" separately...

Can someone explain why? How to ALWAYS be able to change the region color if I select the track, and change the track color if I select the region?
