Default Mac OS X 10.5.2 MADNESS??? Here is my setup.

WOW, what a horrible week... for those of you who feel my pain, I have this to offer up:

for what it's worth, here is my current setup that (crosses fingers) is working as of tonight:

1. uninstall all Pro Tools software as well as plugins. *** Also uninstall M-Audio drivers if you use that to interface with Pro Tools (as I do).

2. install a fresh version of Pro Tools 7.4 <restart>

3. install the latest cs update for your version (mine was 7.4cs3) <restart>

4. install driver for m-audio firewire interface (i installed the last NON-beta version) <restart, connecting interface in the middle>

5. start Pro Tools - you may notice a crash or hang while loading plugs... take note of which plug-in was loading as it crashed.

6. if a crash... remove ALL plugins from /Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plugins... they can go into Plugins (disabled)

7. ONLY add back the few plugins that you know you will need to work with on your session... for most people, they can survive with a reverb, an eq, and a compressor plugin. (you WILL indeed get all plugins back once Digidesign catches up with OS X 10.5)

well, that's my story for now. i will post this on some other forums, but it is working well for me.

thanks!
russell

Default Re: Mac OS X 10.5.2 MADNESS??? Here is my setup.

It works no problem on my Mac Mini dual 2.0 with 10.5.2. The only thing I have to do is to turn the airport off otherwise I keep getting errors on a big session.

It's nice not having to use XP on my mini to do editing at home.
