Default Never thought I'd say this...

...coming from a trackball and a keyboard into the ICON world, but I want more faders.
Just got a gig arranging, recording and mixing an R'n'B album, and I have lots and lots of vocal tracks, and the banking makes me nuts.

My 2,- NOK

I have a D-Command ES (Main unit), and I'm running 7.4. So, that's up to 24 faders, right? No rental houses in the entire country to my knowledge.

One thing you could do is to group certain sets of bgvs together and assign them to a VCA master. Keep your VCAs visible on your D-Command (either at the front of the session or by using tracks view) and spill when you need to see them. Much easier and quicker than banking.

There are LOTS of demo D Commands with fader packs sitting in showrooms across the country just waiting to be bought. You'd be surprised how low they'll go.

Not in my country.

Yes, I could make temp groups assigned to VCA masters, that's true. I'll give it a go. Why didn't I just stick to being a simple musician...

Custom fader groups are your friend. I'm using a 24 fader D Command and once I put the time in organizing faders I can find channels very quickly. Best..H

Yes, they are very helpful in my opinion too. But it would be nice to have more faders, also in a recording session. I could quickly record-arm, mute and mix while the talent is performing, and that without fiddling around so much.
