Crackeling potentiometers on 002R
All my potentiometers are crackeling from (what I think) oxidation when turned. Have tried electric cleaning spray and exercised them with absolutely no success in the long run. Its a bit anoying, really loud crackles and disappears after som exercising but is back the day after. Can it be an electrostatic thing?
Is this also a common problem like the harness issue? Is there a way to fix it, change them all? /Micke

Was your 002R frequently being used when the problem came up? It would more likely be oxidation if it had been sitting idle for some time. Or has it been used in a smokey environment? I wonder about the effectiveness for this purpose of the electrical cleaner you used. Or maybe enough of the cleaner wasn't applied to the potentiometers? Back in my tech repair days we relied on LPS1, a greaseless lubricant, which is still available. Apply liberally to be sure it penetrates to all of the contact surfaces. If it's definitely the potentiometers and cleaning doesn't help, Digi may be able to replace them... Allan

Re: Crackeling potentiometers on 002R
In my limited experience with mackie control, its's one of the most vurnerable piece of controller. Basicly flimsy built imho.
I have no problem with the 002 and 003 here. If it's oxidation, try some special lubricant. Here we use a named: deoxit. It cleans and treats. Works great for us. Tamas Dragon

Re: Crackeling potentiometers on 002R
Thanks for the answers!
Yes, it was a demo unit hardly used in the store for at least 2 years, so thats probably why it has oxidated more than others 002:s, when you say it. I used CRC Industries spray and at least here in Sweden, they are known to have very good products, including the legendary 5-56, the rust solvent spray. Maybe I should try some of your spray tips instead, a day when I have the time.. /Micke

Tis is the one: http://www.crceurope.com/csp/web/Pro...rand=CRC%20RED And I see now that it is a "very mild" cleaner.. I wil test either the LPS1 or the DeoxIT. :)
